A big messy soup seems ‘tis all of my life –
Just brimming with steam and now boiling with strife;
Why would the Creator throw me in this mess?
Does He care about all my pain and distress?
The massive confusion that rages within
Stirs up all the soup and creates quite a din,
Potatoes of doubt to the soup are a pest,
As unbelief charred, in the mind doth yet wrest.
A finely chopped onion just makes me to cry
For reasons unknown that I cannot say “why”
The heart, mind and spirit inside feels chopped up
As pain and confusion now boils in my cup.

The beans of rejection pop up in the stew
Confounding relationships old, lost or new;
The morsels of meat swim in rivers of tears –
Are viciously beat on by unfounded fears.
And then I behold a chunk frothing with rot
Which represents lies that the enemy taught,
It’s floating around and spreads rot where it goes,
While truth may be buried by lies that they chose.
The powers of darkness take aim at my soul
And make me believe that I’ve lost all control –
But satan’s defeated and *Christ reigns supreme,
And *He holds the soup, whether messed or with cream.

When we give to Jesus the soup of our life
Despite the confusion, the pain, grief and strife,
Yield Him each potato, each onion and bean –
For He sees it all and each portion has seen.
Those anguishing strands that were torn from the heart
He binds up with gold where prayer’s dewdrops do start,
So deftly He weaves the dark pieces with gold –
Creating true beauty unseen and untold!
For God sees your life with an eternal view
Controlling the heat in the trials and stew,
Your heart’s deepest pain is a launch pad of grace
Where Christ creates beauty and imprints His face!

I carried a backpack for most of my life –
An ugly, old knapsack just brimming with strife,
Its pockets diverse were just bulging with stuff,
Yet none understood or would say “It’s enough.”
That bitter rejection I zipped up with haste
Inside a dark pocket of pain, grief and waste,
The zipper was bursting with pressure untold –
Would often spill out in the anguishing cold.

The biggest compartment was crammed full of lies
Which slithered around with the maggots and flies,
They slipped from the pocket and fell at my feet,
Which caused me to trip on the pathway so steep.
My backpack had pockets encased in dark grime,
So filthy, unfathomed, midst agony prime,
It could not be opened – so tightly was tied –
So dirty and hopeless it felt I had died.

The hatred and bitterness frothed day and night
Within a large pocket creating stark blight,
It spilled through my backpack to each pocket there –
Spread death and chained slav’ry in greater despair.
And then I saw Jesus approaching in love,
Surrounding my form with the peace of a dove;
He tenderly said ‘I could give Him my sack –
That He’d take it all and restore what I lack.’

He opened the pockets - took each item out,
To Calvary’s cross He brought all without doubt,
So kindly He took all my pain in His hand-
Poured in healing oil as He helped me to stand.
He broke ev’ry lie and replaced them with truth,
Christ shattered my chains and the bondage uncouth;
My old, bulging knapsack He fully transformed,
And filled it with miracles His love performed!

Though it is a monster that rages about-
This dreaded disease that by “cancer” doth shout,
Yet it has no power, but under the Lord:
For He controls fully this death-breathing sword.
If He has allowed it, your body to hit,
This indicates He near your side wants to fit-
He longs to walk with you in each future step,
That you always know “by His power you’re kept.
Though cancer, it seems, will move in with dread shove,
Yet it can’t succeed in the crippling of love;
It can’t subdue mem’ries so happy with song,
Nor courage repress when the Lord makes you strong!

Your friendships, by cancer, can never be killed,
Nor can it insist that your laughter be stilled;
It can’t corrode faith nor yet shatter one’s hope:
For God’s grace sufficient will help you to cope!
This cancerous vermin cannot destroy peace,
Nor even a little to make it decrease-
With you, Jesus rides in the eye of the storm,
And close to His breast you’re kept peaceful and warm!
Destructions of cancer your soul can’t invade,
As Christ your hand holds and delivers His aid;
Eternal life given, it never can steal:
For Jesus is Saviour – His hand you can feel.

Though cancer may ravage your body all through,
It never can conquer God’s Spirit in you;
It has many limits, yet helpful can be
To be used by God as He purifies thee.
This dark disease bring in surrender to Him:
Then He renews hope and makes bright what was dim;
The pain, grief and heartache commit to His hand –
He’ll use it for good, though you don’t understand.
Hark! List to His voice calling tenderly now,
“Come near to Me Child, that I may show thee how,
That I use affliction to strengthen thy soul –
And My arms shall hold thee, though billows may roll!”

Written as a voice for the unborn

It started one day with a plan in God’s heart
Before earth’s foundation had yet seen its start,
He chose me back then to be part of His plan –
My Father who holds the whole world in His hand.
God knew me before I had ever been formed
Within my mom’s womb – meant to be safe and warm,
Each intricate part of my body, soul, mind
Was lovingly shaped by a Father so kind.
The Lord God of life fashioned more every day
Of me, His creation, in His unique way –
From nothing He made a minute heart to beat,
And as time went on He then fashioned my feet.

Those first twenty weeks God had formed me in love,
Enfolding me safely like wings on a dove –
So safe and secure in my own mommy’s womb,
I knew naught of anything close to the tomb.
I heard my mom’s heartbeat so constantly throb,
But then felt abandoned and soon to be robbed
Upon that dark day that would shatter my world
When death and hell’s demon’s attack was unfurled.
So tiny and vulnerable – having no voice
They made me death’s target with never a choice –
The agent of satan approached me to kill
By dark brutal torture – abortion’s death bill.

Barbarous cold tools soon I felt on my arm
With pinching and pulling midst agony’s harm,
I could not cry out, to speak up or e’en weep
As death ravaged near, where one’s life rates as cheap.
But…Jesus drew near to my pained, bleeding side
And bore me above, in His bosom to hide,
He gently enfolded me close to His heart
And whispered, “I’ve loved you, My Child, from the start!”
My Jesus is Life and He died to bring life –
He rose from the grave and redeems from death’s strife  Christ advocates always for life, Oh so small,
And saves each of them, for He’s Lord over all!

The devil remains our formidable foe –
A jealous, old coward wherever he goes,
His blasphemous pride got him thrown down to hell –
“Forever he’s doomed” which deserves he so well.
He knows that his time is so short upon earth
So thus he pursues us from day of our birth,
To steal and to kill, to destroy is his game
While preying on innocent, lost and the lame.
Along our life-path he conceals traps and bait,
And schemes to ensnare all the humans he hates –
For God’s divine image on humans is stamped
Against whom the enemy’s efforts are vamped.

His millions of children trail close to his heels:
This “father of lies” with untruth always deals,
He spins subtle lies in the minds of his prey,
And seeks to derail all God’s truth ev’ry day.
He sneakily digs in the soil of the mind
And plants seeds of doubt of the most deadly kind,
This seed, left unchecked, will obstruct God and truth
While snaring the soul in deception uncouth.
He constantly tries to pit man against God
Injecting his lies as with untruth he prods;
Convictions of truth he will raze to the ground –
Will brainwash that soul till in chains they are bound.

Our foe was a master musician above,
And now uses music his evil to shove,
He slips in the mind through the lyrics and beat –
Attempting as always to take center seat.
For he thinks that he will be like the Most High,
Amid deadly pride that surpasses the sky,
But God has all power in heaven and earth
And overrules satan’s destructions and dearth.
Christ Jesus has conquered our foe and all hell,
 And reigns over death in victorious swell –
No evil can touch us when we’re in Christ’s hand,
Who paid our life ransom and with us He stands!

Our God is not bound by the power of man—
No limits or efforts can stop the Lord’s plan,
Midst chains, jail and soldiers or politics’ song
Our Lord is supreme, and He rules as King, strong.

The power of prayer is our lifeline and hope,
Connecting to God as He helps us to cope-
Relying on strength so divine from above,
As He hears each cry and surrounds us in love.

The greatest connection of wireless feat
Is this one from God, to His own mercy seat
The power of prayer we cannot estimate,
For once borne above, He’s on time – never late.

To pray without ceasing in heart, mind and soul
Becomes vital breath though the billows may roll,
It bears one above to the Lord’s sweet embrace
Where He takes each burden, enfolding in grace.

Despite opposition, deep trials or pain
The Lord’s in control and He plans a great gain.
Surrender to Him all afflictions and grief:
For He’ll bring forth gold, giving peace and relief.

The family of God bands together in prayer
And advocates often as burdens they share,
They build up each other in hope, truth and love,
While trav’ling together to Heaven above.

Fear not any suff’ring which may come to you
Assured that the Savior will see you safe through,
He walks right beside us and hears when we pray
A crown of life gives when dawns heaven’s bright day!

“My Jesus, I thank You that you have control
Of each situation in my life and soul:
For You know exactly just what I can bear,
And walk right beside me - the load You doth share.

Most often I cannot in full understand
Just what in dark trials for me You have planned,
But this Lord, I know, the full picture You see,
When only the underside, dark, is near me.

You understand fully the soul’s deepest needs
And choose the right tools as Your hand of love leads;
Each trial and heartache which You have allowed
Is in Your control, though the future’s in cloud.

You make all things beautiful in Your own time,
Though circumstance, dark, shows no reason or rhyme:
For You see the picturesque side of Your plans,
While I, the dark underside only can scan.

I praise You Lord Jesus that I can rely
On bounteous grace which You freely supply;
You see my life pathway from start to the end
And always walk with me as Your strength attends!

I thank You for calling me through valleys, low,
For walking beside me each step that I go;
My needs You supply when they’re placed in Your hand,
Although it is oft that I don’t understand.

So I must submit to Your all-knowing hand
Each heartbreaking trial, each dark, tattered strand:
Assured that my Lord can use tangles of pain,
Despite blackest night to build infinite gain!”

How Can I Help?

How can I help a soul in need? whose troubles seem to far exceed
The things which I have known or felt- the like of which I’ve never dealt.

How can I know just what to say? How can I brighten up the way?
That anguished turmoil makes no sense when I have no experience.

Arise, take courage and rejoice: for love, divine, will aid your choice-
The power lies within your hand to trod one down or help them stand.

A soul of trauma longs and pleads, for one to listen to their needs
With open ear, unjudging heart - a hand to hold when teardrops start.

These hurting souls need patience kind, true love’s support for heart and mind;
And they must have your trust so true, to know their words will stay with you.

Do not deny their anguished pain, the broken heart from horror’s strain,
The gunpoint scenes of grief, filth, shame- judge not - accredit all that came.

Survivors of traumatic deeds your understanding always need:
For flashbacks, unawares, come up, where guns, threats, filth, again they sup.

Do not discount how tortures ruled, midst which the victims are thus schooled:
“You’re useless, damned, accursed and more- rejection only is in store.

”Don’t ever judge their shattered state, of which no soul can estimate:
For had their mind in one piece stayed, just hopeless death would be their aid.

They hunger to be understood, and just be loved as Jesus would;
The skeptic’s views they do not need- on criticisms need not feed.

Discredit not, how memories real o’er body, mind and soul oft steal,
Where writhing pain is not obscured, but throes of suffering are endured.

Just walk beside them – let them know that you will share their pain, tears woe:
Before you act or say or do, for one mile walk and wear their shoe.

DO NOT show pity for their pain: for pity reeks and brings disdain;
Leave all condemning far behind- through care and time grant nurture kind.

Just be a gentle presence near, give calm assurance midst their tears;
Stand firm beside them, be a friend - be kind and true right to the end!

Compassion, gracious, show each day - the love like Jesus live alway;
Bring them to Christ, the Healer Great: for only He can save midst fate!

Hallowed Eye

Throughout the whole year are some days that arise,
Which give Satan glory, but where someone dies:
For he has some holidays where he delights
To lift up his power - against God he fights.
The one he delights most, you may not believe-
This darkest of days which is called “Hallowed Eve”
That night when the moon is so big and shines bright,
Is when he wreaks havoc in horror’s black night.
Satanical darkness pervades the whole eve,
When Satan so rampantly seeks to deceive:
For many are chained to the power of death,
And this is the eve when they breathe their last breath.

What horror awaits them as moon beams arise-
Advancing their death amid heart-shredding cries:
For they have been “chosen” this sacrifice night
To offer their blood in satanical rites.
The innocent die for the Devil’s own gain-
Are often snuffed out so his agents attain
The “power” derived from the life-flowing blood
Of captives they’ve chosen to give out that flood.
This dark territory now stands in great need
Of someone to come, who by Jesus is freed,
Who’s armed with God’s power and love so divine:
For through Jesus’ blood the full vict’ry is thine!

Oh, who will arise and the Master’s call heed?
To rescue the dying in Satan’s chained creed;
Who dares by God’s power to stand in the gap?
Delivering captives from Satan’s death zap?
So often the captive is bowed down in chains,
Relentlessly heavy and dying in pains:
And though they desire hope, freedom and light
There’s no one to care or assist in their plight!
Oh, please do draw near with your hand in the Lord’s,
And bind Satan’s power through Christ’s blood and Word;
Please take full authority o’er this dread foe,
To rescue chained captives from death, hell and woe!

A Walk Through the Lord’s Garden

At sun-rise I come to Your garden each morn,
Where daily, new sun beams the flowers adorn;
I walk with You, Jesus, midst lilies so white,
Which tell of your wonders just after dark night.
The bowers of roses which climb up so high,
Shout forth the thorn story of One Who would die:
For me, Lord, You wore piercing thorns on Your head
Before You were nailed to the cross in my stead.

The violets so tender, in dark purple hues,
Bring out a sweet message midst new morning dews:
They whisper in awe of the most gentle touch –
The Master restoring when needed so much.
The bleeding-heart flowers in brightness hang low,
Midst heart-pains rejuvenate hope none can know,
Ecstatically shouting of Jesus, my King,
Who mends broken heart-shreds and makes ruins sing!

The lily of valley determinedly grows,
And out from a crevice in rock it now shows:
For it sought the sunshine and light from above –
No obstacle, hard, could deter it from love!
The sunflowers loom near the garden’s far wall,
In brightness so cheering, still loudly they call;
They laud the bright sunshine so full in the face –
Remind me of Jesus – His love, light and grace.

And then come the grape vines all climbing about,
With never a shadow of worry or doubt:
For if they abide in the true vine alway,
The life is sustained in them, come then what may.
And Lord, the rock walls that surrounding I see,
Reminds of protection You put around me:
For You are the Gardener of this my heart –
Completing in full ev’ry work You doth start!

How Precious God’s Thoughts To You

Before the foundations of earth were e’er laid,
For you in His plan, had the Lord a place made;
He knew all about you before you were formed,
And near to His heart, there His thoughts of you warmed!

He sees the full path that He’s laid out for you,
And just how He’ll use all the things you go through;
His plan for your life is all woven in love,
And He will sustain you with grace from above.

How precious each day are God’s thoughts unto thee-
Which number far more than the sands of the sea;
Although you’re asleep or awake this you’ll find:
Around you His thoughts and His love always wind!

Although dark adversity darkens your path,
Don’t ever assume it is part of God’s wrath,
But be most assured it is God’s divine hand,
Who uses pained trial we don’t understand.

For trials are tools we can welcome with joy,
Designed to build up and to never destroy:
For when to the Lord we yield all of our pain
He transforms it all into undying gain.

Our God specializes in taking your heart,
Which may be so wounded or broken apart;
The dark, bleeding shreds He will take in His hand-
Creating a vessel to use as He’s planned!

He carries you close to His bosom of love
And longs to bring healing and peace like a dove;
He never can fail you – His child you remain,
And He, ev’ry step of your life will sustain!

God's Riches At Christ's Expense

The grace of God goes on and on, ‘til “time no more” upon us dawns;
There is no measure to His grace, extending to the human race:
For God in Christ has chosen man before the world He e’er began-
To great extravagance He went when to the earth His Son He sent!

`Twas “God’s riches at Christ’s expense”- His grace immeasurably immense,
That He should plan out Calv’ry’s cross so long before sin came with dross:
For God’s great justice hates all sin, yet mercy great abounds with Him-
The sinner, shackled, hopeless, bound, God loves to depths which none can sound!

God’s grace abundant, rich and high ascends to far above the sky,
Incomprehensible it stands to justly meet what sin demands:
For Jesus died by God’s great grace - in love He kindly took our place-
The penalty of death He bore - for sinners opened up hope’s door!

Though one may “feel they are accursed, of sinners that they are the worst,
”Despite what chains may have you bound, amazing grace doth still redound!
The Devil’s smorgasbord of sin you may have feasted on within,
Yet God in love can reach right down and lift you up where grace abounds!

The Lord can reach down to the pit where in sin’s shackles you may sit,
His grace, unfathomed, digs through mire to rescue souls from endless fire;
Impossible though ruins seem, there’s naught but Jesus can redeem-
No limits doth His power know as He on souls rich grace bestows!

In Jesus’ blood He longs to cleanse all sinners caught in Satan’s dens,
Adoption papers He would sign through grace so beautiful, divine;
As sons and daughters of His own He longs to guide us to His throne,
In places heavenly to sit with Jesus Who God’s plan did fit!

Hope and Healing for Rape

Hark, list to the message of truth that I bring-
Old, young, and all others, my song you can sing:
Praise God, I can shout from the mountain-tops high,
Exalting my Lord, who did not let me die!

Abused and degraded, down-trod in the grime,
No friend, hope, or help in the midst of vile crime;
Dear friend, I assure you that Jesus was there-

Had absent He been I’d have died in despair!
Enfolding me close, He ensured life and breath,
And carried me thro’ what was worse than dark death;
“Life never was meant to be shamed and defiled,
Indeed, I still love you, despite all, My Child.
Now give to Me fully, each boulder of pain-
Give up the black filth and the shameful disdain;

And Child, do remember that I specialize:
From ruined trashed rubble, to make a great prize
That’s fashioned and purified through grace divine-
Engraved in My hand as a treasure that’s Mine;
Remember, I too, faced abuse on the cross-

Resigned to the suffering to save you from dross.
And now I stand waiting to transform your life-
Perfect to the fullest, amid shame’s vile strife;
Engraving you child, on My heart for all life!”

Fellow-Soldiers, Wounded

Life’s a battle, fierce and raging- Good and evil troops at war:
Gallant soldiers pressing forward, midst the warfare thick and sore.
Our Commander Chief is Jesus, to His voice we needs must hark,
If we want to claim the vict’ry- triumph at the finish mark!

Why do Christians shoot their wounded who are victims in life’s fray?
How can they say Christ is in them when they shoot and wound all day?
Why do they down-trod the smitten, strike and gash them o’er & o’er
?Their combatants, pained and injured, stab & wound them yet some more?

Why are fellow-soldiers battered, judged and treated as the foe?
Why, though shell-shocked, does their squadron launch against them, strike a blow?
How can Christians toil as snipers with their cannons, bombs and dirks?
Shooting down fellow-combatants- their Commander’s love they shirk.

For the battle’s not a warfare where with flesh and blood we fight,
But the force and prince of evil shall be conquered by God’s might!
Many soldiers are a-dying in the trenches all alone,
Who are broken, torn and bleeding - at death’s door so very prone.

We cannot afford to shoot them, just because they’re bleeding sore-
Though we know not what they’ve suffered, let us love them yet the more;
For our words are just like bullets when shot out with judgment’s fire
And cause wounds of mortal damage, though they’re situation’s dire.

Our Commander, what would He do, when the broken lives He sees?
Would He kick them from the pathway and just walk away with ease?
When a fellow-soldier, wounded, on life’s battlefield we find-
Waste no time to solve pain’s prelude, but just live Christ’ love - be kind.

HE’S MASTER OF THE BILLOWS

Though the waves may dash against me in the darkness of the night,
Yet the Lord is my Salvation, my Deliverance and Light;
He grants joy amid the thunder and gives peace throughout the storm:
For when He the waves ride with me, I am safe, secure and warm.

When the stormy waves come crashing, in His truth He doth enfold,
While assurance then sweeps o’er me and protects me from the cold:
For despite one’s painful circumstance the Lord is in control,
And He’ll not forsake His children but protects their heart and soul.

Though the clouds of doubt may scuttle all across the twilight sky,
We must fix our eyes on Jesus and believe His hand is nigh-
Look beyond the lies of Satan to the cross of our dear Lord:
For His blood is all-triumphant, and we have His living Sword!

And regardless of the enemy, his tactics and attacks,
We have all of heaven for us, and through Christ no power lack:
For our Lord has won the victory which we must daily claim-
We are conquerors through Jesus and the power of His name!

Though dark pain and heartache threaten our frail bark on life’s wild sea,
Yet no wave can ever hit us, except Christ says it shall be:
For He’s Master of the billows and holds all with in His hand-
Your eternal best He’s working, though you may not understand.

So each day do come before Him and there offer up anew
A true song of deep thanksgiving for your pain and storms that brew:
For each trial signifieth that on you the Lord’s hand rests-
Though the enemy then rages, yet your Captain plans the best!

With sufficient grace and power Christ in-fills you ev’ry step,
Though your circumstance would shake you, by His hand, divine you’re kept;
In Gethsemane draw near Him, and there say “Thy will be done:”
For the Master walked before you and the victory He’s won!

Don’t Quit, My Child

Don’t quit when the tears are falling:
For there’s joy around the bend;
Don’t quit when the grief engulfs you:
For sufficient grace God sends!

Don’t quit when in waves you’re sinking:
For the Lord keeps you afloat;
Don’t quit when the sails are rending,
For Christ pilots still your boat!

Don’t quit when the dark surrounds you:
For God’s light of love shines near;
Don’t quit midst attack or warfare:
For the Victor, Christ is here!

Don’t quit when a soul rejects you:
For your Father cannot fail;
Don’t quit when that sting is mounting,
For `tis Christ Who sets your sail!

Don’t quit midst affliction’s anguish:
For the Great Physician’s near;
Don’t quit, though the road seems cheerless-
There’s a diamond in each tear!

Don’t quit in the thick of battle:
For the vict’ry is ahead-
Don’t quit in the field of wounded:
For they need you, ere they’re dead!

Don’t quit at this stage of travel:
For the finish line we see;
Don’t quit my dear friend forever:
For we’re near eternity!

FROM PITS, HE WILL RESCUE

The power of darkness – what horror it holds,
It binds one in chains as to slavery they’re sold:
The foul chains grow tighter each step of the way,
As master of darkness, destroys more each day.
The power of darkness will strangle to death-
Eliminates wholly one’s spiritual breath;
It squelches all hope and desire for God,
As one’s cruelly beaten, beneath Satan’s rod.
Deception’s grim web will entangle complete,
Until one is doomed in a constant defeat:
Its sly, sticky lies will like poison dart out,
And strike without warning with dark, deadly clout.

The power of darkness will suck you so deep,
That you can do naught, but to struggle and weep:
For daily those chains will one’s bondage increase,
Until they’re encased in a darkness not ceased.
This power’s oppression, more heavy than lead
Is filled with dark horror where terror is fed;
The spirit and body, emotions and soul,
Are pushed down in blackness beyond all control.
The master of darkness would have you believe,
“That once in his chains, you can never receive
The freedom and cleansing through Christ’ blood divine,
”And whispers so subtle, “I’ve trapped you, you’re mine!”

But God has redeemed me to shout out what’s true,
Declaring what wonders my Jesus can do:
His power, unlimited, no bounds doth know-
He breaks every fetter- all darkness will go.
There’s hope in the Savior through His blood divine,
From pits He will rescue, says “Child, you’re all Mine:
For I died to save you, My blood bought your soul-
The power of darkness cannot keep control!
When I rose triumphant from death and the grave,
I conquered the Devil, and live now to save;
His power and strongholds I vanquish fully-
No bonds are too strong that My love cannot free!”

All Things Work For Good

Romans 8:28

Our Father is waiting for us to just come-
Bring Him ev’ry trial that’s so cumbersome:
For His ways are higher than our thoughts and ways,
And He has a plan for our life and its days.

All things work together for our best and good-
Though all may seem dark and there’s naught understood:
For we have been chosen, called out and made new
According to purposes our God doth view.

The Father will never a good work begin
Within His own children, whom He’s saved from sin,
Except that He plans to perform and complete
His purpose in those whom at Calv’ry He meets.

Though circumstance outward may darken the way,
Yet God has all power and He holds each day;
No storm, despite fury, can pass His command:
For He holds our future and good in His hand.

No person or power, no weapon or foe
Can separate us from our God Who doth know;
And if God be for us, against none can be:
For it is the Lord Who now fighteth for thee!

When sorrow may crush with such mountainous weight,
And burdens like iron just don’t dissipate,
Yet Jesus will lovingly take full control
And work it all out for the best of our soul!

Yield all to the Master and place in His hand
Each painful affliction you don’t understand;
His purpose is greater than we comprehend,
And grace all-sufficient He faithfully sends!
